It's a unique opportunity to see the wide range of art being carried out in this area. Visit open studios, exhibitions and galleries. Meet and talk to artists and craftspeople.

Following the Trail

Everything you need to know about the trail is on this website. Go to the trail map page or click on the locations in the list on the right. Use the big purple and orange arrows to navigate through the trail. Click on thumbnails to view larger images

You can pick up a guidemap for the trail ( available from late April ) from Tourist Information Centres , Libraries and Arts Centres in Wiltshire. You can get one from the first art trail event that you visit. Or send a 92p stamped self- addressed C5 size envelope to: Wylye Valley Art Trail, Bull Mill Cottage, Crockerton, Warminster. BA12 8AY and we'll put one in the post. To download the guidemap as a low- res PDF file click here

Each entry gives directions for visitors from a main road. As you get close to each event, look out for the numbered yellow trail marker signs which will lead you to the venue. It is also helpful to have a road atlas, sat nav or ordnance survey map.

If you would like to follow the trail by bike, much of it coincides with the Wiltshire Cycleway. (Wilts Cycleway details from Tourist information Centres or click here ).

Admission to all the events is free. Opening times are from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm unless otherwise stated. Dates in pale grey - event closed.

Look out for the takepArt logo for workshops, demonstrations and hands-on activities available during the period of the Art Trail.

Venues showing the teaching symbol offer classes, workshops and courses beyond the period of the Art Trail. Contact the venue for details.

Many of the venues offer coffee, tea and food, look out for the symbols.

Buying Art

Much of the art on show is for sale and many artists and craftspeople will work to commission. However, not many of the venues take credit cards, so if you’re planning to purchase, it’s advisable to bring a chequebook or cash.
